Recommended Dosage: Two to five capsules beforemeals.
Prodigeston is a potent enzyme preparation, but withoutprotease. There are therefore no contra-indications for use in patients withgastritis, gastro-intestinal ulceration, and inflammatory bowel disease.
In addition it containsmarshmallow root and slippery (or red) elm bark, both of which are high inmucilage and powerful demulcents:
Slippery Elm Bark
Slipperyelm bark forms a viscous mucilage with water, which soothes and helps healirritated or inflamed intestinal wall. It has even been used on the outside skin,for sores and inflammation and has been used in poultices for abscesses, minorwounds and boils.
Marshmallow Root
Thedried root contains 35% mucilage (the highest percentage mucilage of allmallows). It has been used widely for treating gastritis, peptic ulcer andcolitis.
Hesperidin
Hesperidin is the major bioflavonoid of oranges andlemons. It acts as an inhibitor of histamine release from basophils.
Catechin
Catechin augments the effects of hesperidin, byreducing histamine release and is useful in preventing the symptoms of foodallergies. |
